Savage Vines are an exciting new start-up brand – dedicated wine industry connoisseurs with a passion to provide their members with fine wines and related offers via a subscription-based service.

Umami were delighted to be commissioned to deliver a comprehensive package of marketing, design and multi-channel promotional campaigns. Our research highlighted that the wine subscription market is an extremely competitive sector, and therefore we needed to understand not only our client’s products, services and target audience, but also recognise the positioning of their competitors. Whilst this was obviously a challenging task, Umami were successful in achieving this aim and delivered a new corporate website for this progressive start-up business.

Our first step was to create an engaging identity – a brand name which would portray the unique character of the brand and stand out from the crowd. The client had previously chosen a name for the company, but we felt that it did little to reflect the appropriate corporate image. Instead, Umami pitched the concept of ‘Savage Vines’ to the client – an instantly recognisable name with a hint of rebellion – as the perfect new beginnings for such an innovative player in the wine subscription market.

Once the initial brand strategy and visual identity were finalised, our next task was to create a modern website which would attract new members and accept reoccurring monthly subscription payments via the Stripe payment gateway. From here, Umami established an effective cross channel marketing campaign, to include Google Adwords, Facebook, Instagram, Print, and London Underground Advertising.

The successful launch of the Savage Vine marketing campaign has resulted in a significant return on investment for our client together with higher than anticipated sales.
